TEACHING YOUR PARROT THESE 3 EASY SECTIONS WILL SAVE YOU TIME AND ENERGY, You can create a special bond with your parrot by teaching it tricks. It’s not all for the sake of amusement, you know. When exposed to a “performance,” a trained parrot sees it as an opportunity to engage with humans and gain new knowledge.

This is good for his or her health and tameness. Teaching your parrot new tricks and playing games together will strengthen your friendship.

It’s time to pick up some new abilities now….

  • Apart from the parrot’s cage and other potential distractions, a neutral location is ideal for teaching tricks.
  • It would help if you got a training perch or a freestanding perch. All the gimmicks will revolve around this principle.
  • Before beginning any form of physical exercise, keep in mind these crucial points:
  • Talk slowly and calmly. Find healthful goodies that your bird loves and will work for.
  • Healthy goodies are better since you’ll be giving them loads. Almond slices are good.
  • Training is better with a calm bird. First, address any behavior issues.
  • Be brief. Sometimes you only have 2-3 minutes – repetition is crucial.
  • Dual-training (ie: mornings typically work best as opposed to when they are ready for bed and not as focused)
TRICK #1: STEP UP

Even though it may not seem like much of a trick, this is where you’ll begin in order to initiate the high five.

  • Do you want to do tricks for treats?” is used to initiate training sessions. Doing this will signal to your bird that it is time for training.
  • Get your bird settled on the training perch.
  • Your bird will lift up its foot if you touch its foot or rub its tummy.
  • There must be both a verbal and a hand gesture in order to pull off any trick. To get someone to move, you can touch their foot or stroke their stomach while saying “step up.”
  • Pick up the bird’s foot and put it on your finger if it’s not getting it. Give them something to show your appreciation, and use an upbeat tone when you compliment them.
  • It may take multiple training sessions for your bird to grasp this concept, so be patient.
  • When they prove themselves, reward them more lavishly and sing their praises.

In the event of an emergency or a trip to the vet, teaching your bird to step up will come in very helpful.

TRICK #2: HIGH FIVE

Now that you’ve mastered teaching your bird to step up, we can move on to high fives.

  • As before, your cue should kick off the training session; for example, “Do you want to come to do some tricks and get some treats?”
  • Make use of a training perch to get your bird ready to fly.
  • Stroke your bird’s foot. A verbal order, such as “hello,” “wave,” or “high five,” is used after your bird is ready to step up. Then you made an air-slapping gesture with your hand. Then you can reward your bird with a tap on the foot and some treats.
  • Mastering a trick requires patience and practice, and it could take weeks to master. Reduce the length of your training sessions if your bird has trouble concentrating.
TRICK #3: SPIN

You can move on to the spin if your bird has mastered the step-up and high fives.

  • Again, your cue should kick off the training session; for example, “Do you want to come to do some tricks and get some treats?”
  • Make room on the training perch for your bird. There are three stages to performing this feat properly. Single-tasking, or concentrating on one thing at a time.
  • Keep the treat out of reach, yet at eye level.
  • Use your cue phrase to guide the treat to the shoulder. Turn around, spin, or ask if you can turn around. next, laud. It is recommended to perform this procedure multiple times.
  • Put the reward behind their back and ask them if they can spin or turn around to get it. next, laud. It is recommended to perform this procedure multiple times.
  • Turn around, spin, or can you turn around? Comment. Repeat step
  • Your parrot will eventually turn on command for a treat.
  • Repeat and be patient. If your bird is frustrated and unfocused, try again the next day.
